VERVE-102 is a novel in vivo gene editing therapy that permanently switches off the PCSK9 gene in liver cells, leading to a 62% reduction in LDL cholesterol for up to 18 months after a single intravenous infusion. While promising, it is still in phase 1 trials and not yet a replacement for statins or other medications.
