A novel oral therapy, SHetA2, has shown promise in blocking HPV from turning precancerous lesions into cervical cancer. Developed by University of Oklahoma and validated by ICMR-NICPR, the drug has been transferred to Emcure Pharmaceuticals for Phase II trials. This is a major step in cervical cancer prevention, especially for India where it is the second most common cancer among women, killing over 36,000 annually.
